What do we do when everything and everyone that we have built our lives upon falters and is threatened? How do we respond when chaos enshrouds our communities and our nation? What is happening in this day and age when our most essential pillars of support begin toppling?

These are the questions at the heart of "The Book of Angels: Twin Flames Rising" Author Maya El is a Chicago born and raised mother of four who is the daughter of a prominent Chicago area political activist who spent his life working for racial justice and was part of the Black Panther Party. She has witnessed first hand injustices like racial profiling of young Black men.

In the prologue the tone is set for the novel. "Two and a half years!" Carson yelled. He adjusted the earpiece on his microphone and walked briskly across the stage. "It's been two and a half years since America elected a television reality star to lead the free world" My husband Carson lit up on stage. He commanded any room he was in with his baritone voice and big personality. "In two and a half years, more than three hundred and fifty black men and women have been reported to be killed by the police." He raised his fist to the audience. "Brothers and sisters, one life taken in vain from this community is too many. Ladies and gentleman, we live in a world of hatred and intolerance." Behind him, three massive television screens broadcast his image into the crowd. The recording would be played on a local television channel, making Carson one of the most well- loved and well- recognized citizens of Chicago... The crowd loved my husband. The camera loved my husband. Chicago loved him. But I couldn't have hate him more.

In what is her debut novel, Maya El tackles tough subject matter that opens the floodgates for the spiritual message the book ultimately offers. The book is very current politically from the current administration to the corrupt Chicago Police Department and racial profiling. But it's different from other books that deal with these issues. It offers hope for the future.

The concept of Twin Flames is introduced when Natalie goes to visit a psychic- "Miss Natalie my spirit guides suggest that I do a Twin Flame reading. " Twin Flames are a New Age concept similar to soul mates only more intense. Prior to incarnating on the Earth plane of existence the twins share the same soul and split into a pair, one masculine energy and one feminine energy twin. They often have erotic dreams of one another prior to their first meeting. But Twin Flames are not just here for romance and great sex. They are given a high order by God, a mission to assist the planet in it's transition from the turbulent times predicted by the Bible and other religions which will accompany the end of the dark age of Pisces to the enlightened Age of Aquarius.

The novels final scenes are shocking and startling, as we discover the true nature of several major characters. In this novels extensive post script Maya El explains the theory that we are living in a cyclical astrological time, full of dramatic and turbulent changes. She forecasts that the new Age of Aquarius will be ruled by "freedom, information, love and equality" during which the challenge for all of us will be "personal spiritual development". Without this she contents, their will be more chaos and destruction of life as we know it on this planet.
