O knihe

The sun shines as the vagaries pass... This statement could sum up Dal Sanders' life as portrayed in these, his memoirs. Born in 1927 in a floating cabin built of Choctaw logs, Dal Sanders, in his own words, lived "a life of leisure, a life of drudgery, a life of joy, a life of no cars, no gasoline engines for propulsion, only the drifting, winding river to sing the lullaby of family love." His mother passed away when he was five. His father eked out a living along the Louisiana riverbanks by hunting, fishing, and scrounging for wood to build the various shacks the family lived in through the years. Although it was a hard life, Dal knew no different. Such was the beginning of a life filled with memories in the making. It is not recorded when Dal Sanders began to chronicle his experiences, but for a man who never finished high school, he became a prolific writer in the hopes of passing on his wisdom to future generations. The reader is drawn into many diverse adventures, some heart wrenching, others hilarious, many chock full of historical trivia, and all entertaining and full of wisdom. Mr. Sanders did not live to see his memories published, but they capture the child he was and the man he became-an avid hunter and fisherman, blessed with an innate mechanical ability who enjoyed boat racing, the outdoors, and providing a living for those he cared for as a faithful husband and loving father.
