Born Frances Isabelle, she discarded the family name in 1996. A follower of St Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of the animals, she took the name Francesa after him, and she writes, paints, sculpts and draws under that name. Born left handed, and originally a brush painter, with tuition she quickly discovered she could paint using the knife which mixes colours on the palette, and she only became a brush painter again in later years. Her autobiography is told in "The Man In The Dress", and her research into Leonardo in "The Notebooks Of Leonardo." - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

In 1976 she visited Italy, and saw the sad plight of the animals, and determined to help. On her return to Australia she enrolled in art classes. At a time when the Fine Art degree was only available to full time students, and working as a nurse, she graduated with a Diploma in Art Studies after eight gears. She then travelled to Florence, and enrolled at the School Of Lorenzo de' Medici, where she was accepted on folio, and studied life drawing under Professor Roberto 'Ciabani for three months. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

In 2011, she suffered a stroke from a clot in the nontine area of the brain, and now lives quietly at home with her three cats, Pixie, Nina and Amber.
