O knihe

This study was carried out in the greenhouse of Agric. Bot. Dept., Fac. Agric., Mansoura Univ. to investigate the responses of pea seed germination, plant growth, physiological characteristics and yield and its component, as well as anatomical changes to sodium chloride levels (5, 7.5 and 10 dSm- 1) and osmoregulators (glycinebetaine at 2000 or 4000 mg/l; thiamine at 25, 50 mg/l and calcium chloride at 2.5 or 5 mM) or plant growth substances (methyl jasmonat 10-5 or 5x10-5 M; salicylic acid at 50 or 100 mg/l). It was felt that in this was light might be thrown on some aspects of the mechanisms of salinity toxicity and tolerance and that some of the results might indicate areas of possible practical use. Pea can be grown successfully on soils that are either nonsaline or slight saline. It could be obtaine a good yield of pea plant cv MasterB under normal or saline condition (above 5 dSm-1) by soaking seeds in salicylic acid at 50 mg/l for 6 hours, then spraying the shoot twise with the same concentration after 25 and 35 days from sowing, or soaking seeds only where the differences between the two methods of treatment is low.
