Desposyni - (definition) the descendants of the nuclear family of Joseph and Mary
This book is about Desposynism, a term popularized by Mike Brown's novel The DaVinci Code. It speaks of the biblical family of Joseph and Mary, and their descendants. Brown believes that Jesus married and had a child, whose descendant is alive today. In my book, I debunk theory. But I go much further.
I take the reader into the world of Desposynism, where the descendants of the half-brothers of Jesus can be historically understood. I then go even further. I present to the reader the notion of "New Desposynism," a concept taught by Jesus in the Gospels and further developed in the New Testament epistles.
New Desposynism is immensely practical for Christian living. For all of us who know Jesus Christ as Savior, Jesus is now our brother by adoption. We are heirs, promised an inheritance in keeping with being members of this royal family that we will receive in its fullness in the millennial kingdom. We will then be given duties in keeping with our standing within this royal family. Somewhere in this vast kingdom, we will be executing our royal duties. We may be in North America. We may be in South America. We may be in Europe. We may be in Asia, Australia or Africa. All we know for sure is that we will execute our duties somewhere on this magnificent earth.
That, in part, is what this book is about. Its purpose is to help us better understand our future and to be better motivated to start laying for ourselves treasures, not in this life where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal, but in the millennial kingdom (Matt 6:19-21). It is indeed worth the effort and the wait. A magnificent kingdom it will be.
The Apostle Paul said it well. He explained that "our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us" (Rom 8:18), and "our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory [in the millennial kingdom] that far outweighs them all" (2 Cor 4:17), and "what no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived - the things God has prepared for those who love him" (1 Cor 2:9). Such knowledge is calming and motivating for godly living as we await Jesus Christ when he returns to the earth.
Sadly, that which I find remarkable is that so few Christians are aware of this wondrous future promised to us, or think much about it. We are seemingly preoccupied with everything else, in spite of the many words in the Bible that encourage us to meditate much of our future hope: the millennial kingdom of Jesus Christ.
