Auszug: Die Stadt Portland im US-Bundesstaat Maine hatte von 1863 bis 1941 einen Straßenbahnbetrieb. In seiner größten Ausdehnung in den 1910er Jahren hatte das Netz eine Streckenlänge von 164 Kilometern. Die Straßenbahn Portland war damit gemessen an der Streckenlänge der zweitgrößte Straßenbahnbetrieb in Maine. Das Netz erschloss nicht nur die Stadt Portland selbst, sondern auch die Nachbarstädte South Portland und Westbrook und Überlandstrecken führten über Scarborough nach Saco und Old Orchard Beach, nach Pond Cove, über Falmouth und Cumberland nach Yarmouth sowie nach Gorham und South Windham. In Saco und Old Orchard Beach hatte das Netz Anschluss an die Biddeford and Saco Railroad, in Yarmouth an das Straßenbahnnetz der Androscoggin and Kennebec Railway.
