O knihe

Environmental decision-making is a central function both for authorities and societies and a major incentive in the process of strong environmental management implementation for every country. We see unequal development of environmental decision-making and management from country to country through comparative research work and witness the underdeveloped approach of post-soviet countries in particular who have very little information on contemporary environmental conservation procedures, have no national policies in place and consume the natural resources without proper consideration of climate change and environmental pollution issues. This book has researched and analysed the environmental problems through discussing environmental impact assessment laws of different jurisdictions and international environmental law. It studies the existing environmental protection laws in post-soviet countries in face of Armenia and compares them with EU EIA Directive and USA NEPA in the meantime measuring all these laws within the scope of international environmental agreements like Aarhus and Espoo Conventions. Besides, this work highlights the role of people in decision-making processes.
