O knihe

The book presents a comprehensive approach to describe economic relationships as mathematical models. It covers microeconomic and macroeconomic models, particularly demand and supply, revenue, cost and profit, production, utility and national income. It is primarily intended as a textbook for an introductory course of mathematical economics for the students of economic-oriented master programmes. It assumes basic prerequisite knowledge of business mathematics on bachelor level. The style of writing is informal and the book contains a large number of worked examples, some of them illustrating the history of fruitful symbiosis of mathematics and economics. The book may welcome also students of economics and other social sciences endeavouring deeper understanding and working knowledge of the mathematics they need to work with more sophisticated, more realistic, and more interesting models.
