O knihe

Matthias Freudenberg and Hans-Georg Ulrichs highlight the Calvin interpretation and the respective position of Karl Barth and Wilhelm Niesel on church politics during the church struggles and the time after World War II.

In this edition of the correspondence between Karl Barth and his pupil Wilhelm Niesel, Matthias Freudenberg and Hans-Georg Ulrichs take a look at the theological stances and the church politics of these two theologians. The letters from the years 1926 through 1930 document their exchange of thoughts concerning their understanding of the Eucharist and the theology of the Protestant Reformers. In the years 1931 to 1938 the Church struggles as well as the authors¿ views on the most critical events in Church politics lay at the center of their correspondence. In the postwar letter (1946-1968) the exchange provides insights into the rise of Protestant institutions and the commitments of both authors to theology and church politics.
