An increasing number of Biblical scholars are today considering the Bible primarily and fundamentally as a literary document as opposed to may be considering it as a historical or Theological document. Despite this unity however, they employ often very different and even incompatible methodologies for the study of literary texts and usually disagree about the implications of their work for the understanding of the Bible.
