O knihe
Shift work has become a permanent and large featureof modern-day society. In 1991 it was found thatapproximately 26 percent of the South Africanpopulation work shifts of some kind (Adler, 1991:3). Although shift work has become prevalent, there hasbeen comparatively little research carried out withregard to this topic particularly in (Potgieter,1996:1; Van Rooyen, 2000:1). Various literaturesources indicate and highlight the vast impacts ofshift work internationally, yet literature on thesubject as seen in South Africa is limited (VanRooyen, 2000:3). The book explores the existingknowledge base on shift work, exploring anddescribing the experiences of shift workers andprovides guidelines for the promotion of health andwell-being amongst shift workers that ultimatelybenefit the employer.
