O knihe

Route 66 conjures up varied images for many Americans. Those who traveled it before the Interstate Highway System crisscrossed the country with high-speed expressways (as did this reviewer) have their own memories, as do those who watched the TV series and lusted after that Corvette. Snyder has traveled Route 66 extensively from its origin in Chicago to its terminus in Santa Monica. He provides detailed directions to the driver wishing to follow the old road. In many places, Route 66 is gone or is now the interstate, but there are still enough miles left to give modern travelers a trip back in time. Motels, restaurants, museums, scenic wonders, and local histories are included. Fun to read, though not an essential purchase, this would appeal to those planning a leisurely drive through the Midwest and Southwest.
