O knihe
The genre of science fiction and all its themes havebecome subjects of scholarly criticism in recentdecades. As for Time, one of the genre's majortopics, it has been so since the first scientificapproaches attempting to understand the notion ofTime. In this concise study, I intend to outline thehistory of science fiction, highlighting - due toformal limitations - only major trends and events aswell as general topics of the genre. This historicaland thematic background is followed by the analysesof time travel and time machines in some exemplaryworks of significant science fiction authors: H. G.Wells, Isaac Asimov, Robert Heinlein and RayBradbury. The book can be useful for those, who arewell-acquainted with the works and authors mentioned, and equally for those, who are not yet familiar withthe genre itself, its history or major topics and arelooking for an introductory work presenting the topicof time travel through influential works of sciencefiction.
