Sandi is a student from Fiji who comes to Australia to study business. She makes ends meet by working part-time as a stripper. When she is introduced to a shady character, he involves her and a friend with an insider trading scam. Her friend does well at it, but Sandy finds she is not really a scammer.
She then meets Ben, a young construction worker of Austrian descent, and the two come to believe they were lovers in a past life. After starting a love affair, they decide to get married. But first, they want to explore the ideas of reincarnation, Hinduism and spiritualism.
The young couple ends up in a commune on a tropical island. But all is not peaceful in paradise, as there are disagreements over how the commune should be ruled.
This unusual love story touches on the metaphysical and Hindu style of life, and makes us realize that there are problems even in paradise. Another World, Another Life is exactly that.
Author Erling Stoldt grew up in Denmark and Norway, went to sea age 15, and then jumped a ship in Australia when he was 18. He ended up doing construction work, later becoming a beachcomber in the Torres Strait for 10 years. Now retired, he lives with his wife in a small town in Queensland, Australia.
