O knihe

Planners involved in public participation processes require methods of engagement and negotiation within the context of the everyday living environment or Lebensraum. The planning process develops as heterogeneous group of participants move towards sharing knowledge and a shared consensus that emerges from the moved interaction and communication within the group of participants. To interactively communicate it is necessary to first make contact and then to arrive at a mutual understanding. Mutual understanding is possible if the participants have corresponding capacities to perceive and interpret behavioural and environmental patterns. Within the praxis of landscape planning, I have organised a form of public engagement in the planning process which is called the moved planning process. The PhD encapsulates my research into the moved planning process. Pivotal to this investigation is the role of walking in its contribution to the dynamics of group interaction, negotiation and decision-making processes. The results of an empirical study demonstrate the relationship between an observed emotional correspondence and decision-making processes in groups.
