Fanny never knew her mother, and Sam's early life was almost ended by a racist Ku Klux Klan cop. Sam became obsessed with the need to bring justice to an unjust world. He felt compelled to travel the world and "execute" Nazis who had survived the war. Lena and Olaf met in Czechoslovakia at the time of the Nazi invasion. Their life together was a constant struggle to stay alive in a world filled with moral garbage. The events described in THE BLACK MOON are based on real people.
