The protection of a pumping station is neither necessary nor desirable, as it encompasses not only the technical aspects but also the financial impacts. As part of the planned expansion of REGIDESO's hydraulic network, pumping station 2 will be protected by two anti-sludge reservoirs with capacities of 10m³ for the medium-pressure distribution zone and 25m³ for the high-pressure distribution zone. While these tanks are a means of protection from a technical point of view, they are also a means of increasing revenue for the company, since the only product it sells is drinking water. By selling this water, the company and the people of Mbujimay are direct beneficiaries when the anti-snagging protections are in good working order. In the event of failure, we feel the impact, whether on the financial aspect, as the company has to generate income, or on the economic and technical aspect, as the company has to meet its various expenses: taxes, salaries, maintenance, supplies, etc.
