Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder characterized by chronic hyperglycemia with disturbances of carbohydrate, fat and protein metabolism resulting from defects of insulin secretion, insulin action or both. At 2013, 7.5 million of Egyptian People, or 15.3% of adults, are estimated to have diabetes. If these trends continue, by 2035, 13.1 million of Egyptian people will have diabetes. And thus ranking of Egypt between top ten countries have diabetic people will change from 9th in 2013 to 7th by 2035 and this will cause a big economic and healthy issue for Egyptian government.The search for new compounds in foods or in plant medicines showing hypoglycemic effects is one realistic and promising approach to treatment and management of diabetes mellitus far from limitations and side effects associated with the chemical therapeutic agents. Cinnamaldehyde, a primary constituent found in cinnamon, and Hesperidin, a citrus bioflavonoid, exhibit biological and pharmacological properties such as anti-inflammatory, anti-carcinogenic, antioxidative, and lipid lowering activities in addition to that they able to normalize blood glucose.
