From the dawn of aviation, pilots required pre-flight planning, although in the earliest flights, this planning was very basic and limited. As the years passed and air traffic steadily increased, the planning procedures grew in both quantity and complexity but were not documented beforehand. After World War II, various organizations began to emerge to regulate civil aviation, creating different standards and procedures to enhance flight safety.
