GET WOKE

Get Woke is not only a book but a resource that combines youth empowerment and education together. It is what we are calling a "Youth Sustainability Manual." It is a tool for youth, families, and organizations to explore necessary information from realistic, spiritual, and philosophical points of view, to present deep conversations in a unique way amongst youth and young adults. The phrase Get Woke is a call to action for not only youth but adults, community, and society to act upon the current mandate screaming loudly.
We are in a time of "re": A time to replenish, redefine, rebuild, and reestablish youth, starting with youth culture. We will be discussing the deeper meanings of life with youth culture, such as maturation, breaking barriers, spirituality, and sustenance in a more profound yet relatable way.


Where does the phrase Get Woke come from?


Get Woke is a spinoff of the term Stay Woke, which, according to Wikipedia, is an African American vernacular in English expression, which refers to continuing awareness of social issues. However, this book's objective is to help youth to Get Woke!
The term represents the objective of the I Am A Vessel Youth Movement to create a platform that educates youth on the unseen things affecting them because of societal changes, technology, social media, and losing human intimacy. Being woke means that one is aware and alert. To be alert is defined as being mentally perceptive and responsive, alive to what is going on. Perhaps we can conclude that not being alert on some level implies one is not living to their fullest potential. We live in such an action- packed society. Being alert is a necessity for survival! This text provides the culture with structure and strategy which includes language, attitude, and mindset for survival in today's world.
