The Iowa State Cyclones (commonly referred to as

varsity teams in 11 sports. Iowa State's Athletic
Director,
Jamie Pollard (2005-current), has dramatically
changed the
direction of the athletic program. Since hired,
Pollard has
replaced head coaches in: football, men's basketball,
wrestling, gymnastics, soccer, cross country/track and
field, women's golf, tennis, and softball. He has
dramatically increased the athletic budget and has
improved
player academics. Additionally, he has initiated major
renovations to Hilton Coliseum and Jack Trice
Stadium, and
has begun construction of a basketball practice facility.
