Islam and philosophy seeks to offer readers an objective vision of Islamic thought, both theological and philosophical, and in particular the contributions of classical thinkers such as Ibn Khaldun and Averroes. It also provides a critique of the Eurocentric view of the world and of history in order to reinsert the contributions of other cultures to universal civilisation. The majority of Western production, both in history books and in philosophical thought, has a timeline that begins with classical Greece and imperial Rome and continues with medieval Europe, the Renaissance and the modern world, leaving out, in most cases, non-European thought.
