He has an MMA record of 24-5-0. Three of his five losses were to Mirko "Crocop" Filipovic. Barnett was a heavyweight world champion in mixed martial arts winning the UFC heavyweight title and the open-weight King of Pancrase title. He also was a finalist in the PrideFC open-weight Grand Prix 2006. tested positive for an illegal anabolic steroid on July 21 2009. Following the result, the California State Athletic Commission withheld approval for him to fight on a scheduled card for Affliction against Fedor Emelianenko. He is the only person in MMA history to test positive for anabolic steroids three times.
