This story tells of how life came crashing to a halt one sunny spring morning when Derek left the house to drive a short journey to buy a piece of wood. He was never to return to life as he had known it. Whilst in the store he suffered a cardiac arrest which resulted in him spending the following nine months of his life in hospital recovering from severe brain damage due to loss of oxygen.
The story goes on to tell of how the impossible can become possible and that mountains we often feel are too high to climb can indeed be conquered and of how through love, luck and a miracle, Derek was able to climb and conquer his own formidable mountain.
