You can take a train from Thane going to Vashi / Nerul, or take a train from Vashi going to Thane. Be prepared to stand in the ticket queue for 10 to 30 minutes at Thane station as only two ticket windows are operational at any time. Ticket vending machines and coupon validating machines are not to be trusted as they frequently malfunction and are out of order. If you plan to take a bus from Rabale during the day time, be prepared to stand in the hot sun for around 15 minutes to the get the bus you want to board.
