Maxillary expansion in adults is considered a challenging treatment modality for the correction of a transverse maxillary deficiency due to skeletal maturity. Orthopedic maxillary expansion in adults opens a variety of nonsurgical/non-extraction treatment options in severe dentofacial and skeletal discrepancies.
