The goal of endodontic therapy is the removal of all vital or necrotic tissue, microorganisms, and microbial by-products from the root canal system. This may be achieved through chemo-mechanical debridement of root canal. Irrigation has a central role in endodontic treatment. During and after the process of instrumentation, the irrigants administers the removal of microorganisms, tissue remnants, and dentin chips from the root canal through a flushing mechanism. Different irrigants can help prevent packing of the hard and soft tissue in the apical root canal and extrusion of infected material into the periapical area.
