Women of the Bible

Retold and illustrated by Ruth Sanderson, Women of the Bible features stories of twenty-three important women from both the Old and New Testaments. Rendered in the style of a tapestry, each woman portrayed made a difference in the fabric of the Bible. Throughout the ages, women have been in charge of spinning, weaving, and sewing. Some of the women in these stories used needle and thread to profess their faith, while others used a more symbolic weaving in their lives. Old Testament stories include Eve, Rebekah, Ruth, the Queen of Sheba, and others. The New Testament stories include Mary of Nazareth, Elizabeth, Anna, Mary and Martha, and Mary Magdalene, among others. The stories of these wives, mothers, daughters, warriors, and prophets still hold meaning and inspiration in our lives today. Note: This book was first published by Little, Brown and Co. in 1996 under the title Tapestries, Stories of Women in the Bible. The only change in this second edition is the new title and cover.
