Amy and Jill... Two total strangers who only meet as they carefully make their way into the Emergency Room at Griffin Hospital. Quite far along in their respective labors, they soon give birth to their first child, after only a couple hours. A precious little girl- Samantha, is born to Amy, and an equally precious little boy- Drew, is born to Jill. In an amazing turn of events, both infants arrive at the exact same time, down to the very same minute and second:3:45:18 am. Coincidence? Perhaps... Destiny? Who knows? The only certainty to come out of the unusual set of circumstances, one that no one is even remotely aware of, is the fact that these four lives have become linked from the time the babies were born. They are caught in an intricate set of unstoppable turn of events that will deliver unimaginable grief to those involved, including their immediate families. There will be dire consequences and even more painful outcomes in the years ahead.

A nine-year old child, healthy one day and dying the next. A devastated mother, simply unable to accept what his pediatrician has just told her. She vows that she will fight tooth and nail, and for as long as there is still any breath left in her beaten body. In a fit of indignation and untamed fury, she screams that she will somehow find someone, anyone, somewhere, anywhere, who is willing to help her little one. She does not care how, but she will not give up until she finds that one person who will make her child well again. She is willing to go to hell and back to achieve that!
A 'casual' encounter with a handsome, charismatic stranger, who assures her that he indeed can 'spare' the life of her child, offers a glint of hope. What he asks in return, though, is so horrible that she has to fight hard not to recoil from him, as if he had just set her on fire. It is one sordid and sick proposition, and 'only up to her, take or live it' but, unfortunately she cannot just turn around and run away, like she would like to. As vile as it sounds, it is the only option open to her, for her child's life depends on it and she will not let him die!
Defeat is a bitter pill to swallow, especially if preceded and immediately followed by a silent barrage of self-loathing and self-pity, and complete inadequacy never more blatant than at times like these. It is one hell of a choice, but that so-called choice was never hers to make, anyway. Not since she 'casually' bumped into her 'child's savior', the despicable creature with the cold eyes and an even colder soul, if it has one at all!

Connecticut, the weekend destination for New Yorkers who are ready to scape the hustle and bustle of their hectic Manhattan lives during the weekdays, suddenly became front page news across the country. A string of unsolved rape-murders, discovered in a period of less than three years, soon spread terror among the residents of Fairfield and New Haven Counties, where the crimes occurred. The resulting shock-wave was unprecedented, for it was the state's first encounter with a serial killer. Six murders in total, and in spite o
