Young people face major educational problems in Chad: the poor school and health system, the highly selective nature of schooling, and the inadequacy of the overall education system to the prevailing socio-economic realities. Although the educational aspirations of young people are high, financial constraints, the absence of schools in some rural and semi-rural areas and the obligation to help parents in the fields or in small businesses (fields, cooking, animal husbandry, carpentry, masonry, commerce), for example, many young people are forced to drop out of school because of their families' financial difficulties.
