O knihe

Growing up in Afghanistan was anything but easy for young Pariwarsh. She had been faced with setbacks and forced to live through the harsh realities no child should endure. Adopted, she feels as if she is constantly walking on eggshells around the woman raising her. A woman who does not like her at all. Desperate to persevere, Pari faces each new obstacle with an inner strength none but her realizes she possesses. Strict societal norms prevent her from openly fighting the injustices plagued in her community. A community that was supposed to be her shelter. She is determined to find a new life.
The older she gets the more she pays attention to the wrongs and injustices happening around her. Pari rails against the abuse of power by rich and dangerous men. Forced to grow up, she confronts friends and family as she discovers her true authentic self. It isn't until she learns of the death of her Baba, the man who had raised her that she decides the best thing for her is to leave Afghanistan for a new beginning half the world away.
She hopes to find peace in Australia, away from the sorrows of her past. There is no way Pari is prepared for what awaits. Truths she once took for granted are exposed and a secret world is revealed that will come to dominate her life. She learns to speak up, for herself and for those who are silenced by their own.
She discovers love and a quest for justice that has the power to shape the lives of so many around her. Over the years she will face hardships, setbacks, and joys, as her true purpose solidifies, and the adopted girl becomes a woman. It is the journey of a lifetime and she isn't sure she is strong enough to handle it.
