Poems to the People

All of the poetry in this book, absolutely everyone and anyone will be able to relate to. This is reflected in the title of the book, POEMS TO THE PEOPLE.

Every page is one of the assorted facets in the life of many typical people covering a multitude of events and touches many of our different emotions. The beauty of poetry is always in the eye of the beholder and some of the works could either come from the now or from way back covering any possible era.



The use of the language in this book is simplistic genius. Alfie has the gifted ability of simply being able to say a lot in simple language that anyone can relate to. Any reader will eat this book up in no time.

LIFE'S FIRST LOVE

Deep conversation in full flood,

then a glance a rush of blood.

Recognition, know that face,

another time another place.



OIL SPILL

Through murky waters with tear filled eyes

I sat and watched the fish swim by.

And on the surface the seabird sat,

feathers tarred, sticky black.

Through the ebb and flow the dolphins swam,

dirty grey, thanks to man.

Dead fish floated on a sea full of scum,

innocent victims, evolution undone.



MEMORIES

An empty bed, a piece of hair.

A lipsticked glass, a ruffled chair.

A bill you paid, the milkman's note.

A letter signed, the cheque you wrote.





OTHER MOTHERS

I think there should be a law against other children's mothers,

They seem to let their offspring get away with murdering each other.

According to my children, other mums are best,

they let their kids have what they want and never need to rest.
