O knihe

The book consists of 10 articles written between the year 2015 and 2017. Each article deals with one of the topics related to the Sephardic Jews who lived for centuries on the Iberian Peninsula. They were banished in 1492 from their homeland Spain, and five years later from Portugal. They brought along with them their language, culture, customs, traditional Sephardic Jew's diet, poems and the environmental factors of the area they were welcome to settle down in penetrated into their folklore and enhanced their old traditions in every aspect. Today, when a rich Sephardic Jews tradition is fading away into oblivion and the Judeo-Spanish language is disappearing, positive news is that the Spanish Royal Academy, the leading Institution in Spain for language, decided to correct the injustice done centuries ago. The Academy announced that already in the year 2018 they will establish the official Jewish Spanish Academy in Tel Aviv, Israel. So there is still hope!
