Much of the contents of 1 Chronicles overlaps with the contents of 1 & 2 Samuel. They present different accounts of many of the same events.
1 Chronicles contains several lists of names of children of Israel who participated in the tasks and events of the time.
Because king David was a great warrior, the Lord did not allow him to build Him a house. David's many preparations to help Solomon construct the Temple, however, are recorded in 1 Chronicles.
At the end of David's life and with the Lord's approval, he crowned his son Solomon king of Israel.
