This Golden Anniversary edition covers the 50 crucial years from 1916, when Congress first authorized a Marine Corps Reserve, to 1966 when the 4th Marine Division/Aircraft Wing Team is an integral part of the muscle of American armed strength.
The officers who worked diligently over a three-year period to research and write this volume have performed a real service. I hope that his history will be read by Marines and their friends. I started reading it as a duty and soon became very interested in the story itself. I enjoyed the book and hope that it will better inform the American people concerning the role and mission of the Marine Corps Reserve.
