Emmett remains an enigmatic character; however, both Veronica and Phillip get glimpses of his capabilities. But they only serve to raise more questions instead of answers. The mystery continues, and it is far from over. New characters rise and old characters evolve throughout the series. The journey takes a highly unexpected turn, and the twist is one Veronica and Phillip never saw coming. It puts their relationship in jeopardy. Their commitment to the journey and one another is tested. And, when all seems calm, another equally shocking twist brings the journey back into focus. This twist reveals a spiritual clarity but doesn't clearly define the purpose of the journey or what direction it will take from there.
