O knihe

The Window Song is a collection of original proverbs that looks to continue that classic form in its search for wisdom and spirituality. Breaking through the confinements of religion, these proverbs express a unique spiritual outlook in a simple poetic form. Many themes such as love, faith, fear, nature, vision, and death are explored in depth. Each chapter has a corresponding photo that illustrates and adds meaning to each theme. Together these words and images will stimulate thought on how these issues affect all our lives.

""'Brevity is the soul of wit,' Alexander Pope said in a memorable six words. He would surely agree to this inversion: 'Brevity is the wit of the soul,' as well--what we call 'proverbs.' In The Window Song, his excellent follow-up to The River Dream, Laurence David deepens and extends his modern grasp of this ancient form, touching many major areas of spiritual concern in memorable terms. Best savored slowly, like sacramental wine, these new/old proverbs can be life-changing.""
--Michael Riley, Emeritus Professor of English, Penn State University, Author of Ordinary Time

Laurence David lives in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, with his wife, Cathy, who assisted with this book by providing the photographs. They live next to a nature preserve of the Lancaster County Conservancy, where most of the images in the book are located. Laurence is the author of The River Prayer (2006) and The River Dream (Resource, 2016), which are companion pieces to The Window Song.
