Specifically, this paper highlights basic space definitions while also investigating possible methods for and benefits, detractors, and challenges of fielding U.S. combat satellites. Most importantly however, this work spotlights potential threats and possible doctrinal, strategic, and economic reasons for employing combat satellites as part of an integrated U.S. defense-in-depth strategy.
