This practical guide deals with the evaluation and implementation of the Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) of the Support for the Promotion of Family Farming in the Matam Region Phase 1 project. The said project is financed to the tune of 1,800,000,000 CFA francs by the AFD. This study is part of the National Action Plan for the Environment adopted by Senegal in the framework of Agenda 21. This plan ensures the integration of the environmental dimension into the macro-economic planning process. This practical guide proposes a method for evaluating the Environmental and Social Management Plan of the hydro-agricultural development project in the Senegal River Delta under the supervision of SAED. To complete this guide, we used existing documents and collected missing data in the field. The results of this evaluation allowed us to design the action plan for improving the ESMP. The internalization of environmental externalities provided for in the ESMP, which can mitigate or reinforce negative or positive impacts, was carried out at 68.7 percent for compliance with environmental clauses.
