Researchers and experts have brought up evidence that the number December 21, 2012 is simply referred to as a round date within the Mayan calendar. Therefore the Mayans used to refer to this date as the 13.0.0.0.0 which means the 13-Bak'tun period ending. This ending period also announced the coming of the era day... the era day. In fact, in the Mayan culture (¿ see Chapter « Mesoamerica »), the era day was also noted as 13.0.0.0.0 instead of 0.0.0.0.0 (¿ see Chapter « Maya numerals »).
