The existing literature regarding offshoring of white-collar services focuses mostly on Asia, particularly India. Indeed, the economy became a global symbol of offshoring and outsourcing of business services. Another key, but surprisingly neglected, location of offshoring is Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). It witnesses an enormous growth of inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI) in professional services, resulting in the capital and knowledge transfers, but the most important is the impact on the knowledge-based job market (employment in offshore services may reach about 1 million people throughout the region).

Global offshoring of services has been recently undergoing a profound transformation due to automation and robotisation of tasks. It can be associated with the increased codification of knowledge, commoditisation of services and advancement in technology.

This books is the result of a holistic approach and an interdisciplinary research. It is enriched with conclusions from meetings with representatives of: authorities responsible for attracting FDI to particular economies; associations of offshoring firms; and enterprises operating in professional services.
