Dougie Dire, former star footballer, is dying. On the occult plane, he encounters characters from all time zones, including his former coach, Tommy Eliot, his best mate Smithy and his four great grandfathers, as he goes in search of Billy Abraham, a promising young footballer who disappeared after one year at the club.
