This work aims at verifying the possibility of the Brazilian government relying on the rule proposed by Taylor(1993) for the conduct of its monetary policy in the period from 2003 to 2010, presenting the original rule and estimating a new adapted regression, based on national data, and then verifying the adequacy of the Taylor rule to the performance of monetary policy in the country within the period under review.
