I used to visit with some old-timers who lived down the way from us. Mrs. West would sit on her porch and tell me some tales about her great-grandmother and her brother as they traveled across country at a very young age from Tennessee.
This story is based on one of the true stories that I have never forgotten. I reckon you might say, one that touched my heart.
