O knihe
This thesis investigates modern literature forchildren and youngsters, and film adaptations. Thetext presents a study of J. K. Rowling's two firstbooks about the character Harry Potter, "Harry Potterand the Philosopher's Stone" (1997) and "Harry Potterand the Chamber of Secrets" (1998), seen in thecontext of genre and tradition. Furthermore, theliterary works are compared to the two correspondingfilm adaptations, both directed by Chris Columbus, released prior to 2003. In the analysis of J. K.Rowling's texts this thesis comments upon features ofthe double addressee, aspects of intertextuality andthe matter of identification. Hence, one could arguethat Rowling makes use of traditional devices forthe fantasy genre. These elements are also the focalpoints in the analysis of the film adaptations made.
