O knihe

This book is about the perception of the main character in Rody Doyle's fisrt novel "The Woman who walked into doors" and the sequel "Paula Spencer" . This analyses in details the main character from her teenage years, to a single woman, a married one and as a mother. For all these roles play an important part in her development as a person. They give an insight of her believes in marriage and the idea she holds for the role of the husband in the family and for the role of a father and what is he expected to do for the family, all that based on her own relationship with her father. Paula is not the usual heroine who has only the best qualities in her, she is rather different, she is an alcoholic, a cleaning lady and sometimes she fails as a mother. However, these difficulties do not stop her from fighting for a better life for her children and ending the domestic violence which left her empty for years. Though the author describes Paula as an alcoholic, he shows her will to make it through the poverty and keep the family together. The first novel is the one which describes the violence scenes and the beatings and the way Paula feels about it.
