The protests were principally made of non-violent civil resistance, which comprised of a series of demonstrations, marches, acts of civil disobedience and labor strikes. The millions of demonstraters, who were of various socio-economic and religious backgrounds, called for the overthrow of the government led by President Hosni Mubarak.
