O knihe

The book critically examines beliefs, norms, values ,philosophies governing land inheritance, the importance of land among the Abagusii and advanced philosophical views on the way forward to halt cultural practices that undermine gender equality and development. It appraised the traditional epistemological, ethical and socio-economic bases of gender discrimination, concerning inheritance among the Abagusii with the views to showing whether or not traditional grounds are in conflict with the prevailing democratic setting in Kenya. The study hypothesized that disallowing the female folk from inheriting land or family wealth is inconsistent with any governments endeavor in Africa (Kenya included) to create an empowering environment for development; and to show whether or not gender discrimination on land inheritance right amounts to a form of social injustice.
