Since the dawn of history, man has adapted to and modified his environment. With the development of the industrial era, the consequences of these modifications have accelerated to such an extent that today the climate system has been altered. We are now faced with anthropogenic global warming, and despite attempts to mitigate it through the adoption and ratification of the Kyoto Protocol, we are still a long way from achieving the targets we set ourselves.
