The following Lectures were delivered without manuscript, and appear here from the Stenograph er's report. They are not published because they are elegant, eloquent, or incomprehensible. They were intended for the people, and in some sense also in reply to criticism, and these may account for a greater freedom of speech than might have been chosen had they been written beforehand; as too, for some repetitions necessary to the driving home oi truths.
